FAQs on Form 2290

What is a suspended vehicle?

You are not required to pay the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) if your vehicle is driven less than 5,000 miles per year (or 7,500 miles per year for agricultural vehicles). In regards to your IRS Form 2290 your vehicle is considered suspended so you will not owe taxes, but you are still required to file Form 2290.

The Form 2290 due date for suspended vehicles is the same as taxable 2290 vehicles.
