Select the First Used Month
Choose the month that you first used the vehicle during the tax year. The Form 2290 tax year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30 of the following year.

Select a weight category and enter the vehicle count
The taxable gross weight of a vehicle is a sum of:
- The actual unloaded weight of a fully equipped vehicle.
- The actual unloaded weight of any trailers or semi-trailers that are fully equipped and generally used in combination with the vehicle.
- The weight of the maximum load carried on the vehicle and the trailers or semi-trailers.
Taxable Weight Categories A [55,000 lbs] to V [Over 75,000 lbs] Tax Exempt Category W Tax exempt vehicles will be marked as “Category W” on your Form 2290. A vehicle is considered suspended if it is driven less than 5,000 miles during a particular tax year. Agricultural vehicles can be driven up to 7,500 miles.
Logging VehiclesIf a vehicle exclusively hauls products harvested from the forested site then it is a Logging vehicle. Logging vehicles are taxed at a slightly reduced rate (25% less).
