Great Gift Ideas for Truckers This Holiday Season

It’s December, so you know what that means! It’s officially the holiday season. During the holiday season, everyone wants to give gifts to their loved ones. If you know anyone in your life who is a trucker, below you will find a helpful list of practical gift ideas you can give them this holiday season!

Snow Shovel

With winter weather comes lots of snow in many places across the country, so it is important to be prepared. If a truck is parked and it is snowing there is a good chance that you will need a snow shovel to help with the snow around the truck. There are some with retractable handles for easy storage in trucks.

Emergency Blanket

In very cold conditions it is important to have something to bundle up with when pulled over. An emergency blanket can be an essential item when stopped in very cold weather.

Road Flares/Emergency Lights

It doesn’t matter the weather, if it is dark and you have to pull your truck over either for a flat tire or engine troubles it is important that you and your truck are visible to other drivers. This is why road flares and emergency lights can be essential to any trucker.

Head Lamp

You never know when you need to repair something in your truck in the dark. Having a headlamp avoids you having to hold a flashlight while also trying to repair something. It is better to be safe than sorry, so that is why headlamps make perfect gifts for truckers.

Hand-Cranked Emergency Radio

If truckers find themselves in a situation where they have to conserve power when pulled over, instead of having to turn on their truck, a hand-cranked emergency radio comes in handy. Radios can make you aware of news and weather emergencies so it is great to stay informed.

Tools

Another great practical gift for truckers includes tools. Tools can be important for emergency repairs to the truck or even for emergency situations where a window needs to be broken and a seatbelt needs to be cut for extreme emergency situations where you need to make a quick escape from your truck.

Happy Holidays from ExpressTruckTax

Any of these useful items would make a great gift for a trucker in your life. You never know when they would need to use these tools in their day to day so it is better to be prepared for the worst than underprepared. No matter what you give a trucker this Christmas, the entire team at ExpressTruckTax wishes you a very happy holiday season!

The Ultimate Trucker Gifts

ExpressTruckTax wishes truck drivers a merry Christmas

Y’all Christmas is only a few days away, so you better finish up your shopping before you run out of time. Make a list, and check it twice, then remember to get the trucker in your life something meaningful even if they’ve been naughty or nice.

December is one of the busiest times a year for truckers as they drive all over the nation delivering presents to make Christmas possible! The driver in your life deserves a relaxing break to celebrate the holidays with you and their loved ones, so get them something great. Check out our list of the perfect trucking gifts for both the male and lady truckers.

The Best Trucking Gifts

1. Hands-Free Devices

We know you want to check up on the trucker in your life when they are on the road, but holding phones and other devices can be really distracting. Consider getting them a wireless headset so they can talk to you, hands-free. You could also get them a dash mount for their phone and wireless headphones.

2. Warm Gear

Winter is here and many states have experienced snow. Even Atlanta got a good dump! Your trucker will be up early in the morning and late at night doing pre-trip inspections in the cold. Make sure they can stay warm with utility gloves and a nice hat or coat.

Also, it’s cold OTR. Make sure they stay warm in the cab once they park with a space heater or electric blanket. The blanket doesn’t even have a lot of space because they’re available in throw sizes.

3. Coffee

Trucking is exhausting, your driver needs coffee to get moving and keep moving. Help them out by giving them the gift of instant coffee in their rig with a portable coffee maker. Also, get them a heavy duty thermos like a YETI one to keep their coffee warm for hours. Some truckers would like a mug the size of a gallon and you can also get ones with your photo on them for their favorite sports team.

4. T-Shirts

Truckers like to ride in comfort and style, that means they don’t need just any t-shirt but cool ones to flaunt at the truck stop. You can get trucking shirts with funny sayings like, “I just dropped a load.” You can also get them shirts for their favorite trucking shows like Ice Road Truckers or for awesome truck shops like Jack’s Chrome Shop.

5. Gift Cards or Cash

ExpressTruckTax thanks truckers for their hard work
Harper, the famous trucking corgi.

You can give the trucker in your life the ability to pamper themselves by allowing them to shop for themselves. With a gift card or cash, they will be able to get excited and go shop for what they really want. We know truckers are always wanting something cool from Wal-Mart or new tools from the hardware store.

6. Don’t Forget Their Pets

Many drivers take furry pals along on the road and they are more than best friends forever. They’re partners in trucking adventures. If your trucker has a dog, cat, bird or more, include them. Get them a new bone, catnip toy, sweater, bed, blanket, etc. Items that keep the pet entertained are best. The possibilities are endless and your trucker will really enjoy seeing their spoiled buddy included in the holiday festivities.

Last Minute Father’s Day Gifts For Truckers

Father’s day is almost here so we hope you have the day off to spend at home with your kids, or that the trucking dad in your life will be there. Heck, some of you might be from a generation of truckers, who learned everything you know about driving for your pops. If you haven’t gotten your dad a gift yet check out these last minute ideas.

Gift Ideas For Trucking Dads

First of all, you can save your dad some money. He needs to file his 2290 soon and he can use the promo code FATHERSDAY17 to get 10% of filing his return. This discount lasts until Monday the 17th.

These gift ideas are a little less emotional than Mother’s Day gifts. Dads are the ones who teach us how to ride bikes and to heal our wounds by rubbing some dirt in it, they want stuff that’s cool, funny, or that they actually need!

Tech wise you could blow your dad’s mind by getting him a dash cam to record all the close calls he sees on the road. Then instead of trying to describe how two cars barely missed hitting each other or how he saw a really cool dog on a motorcycle, he can show you!

Your dad probably drinks coffee because you tired him out when you were younger, and now he’s addicted. Why not surprise him with a portable coffee pot for his rig so he can brew coffee at any time?

Along with that coffee pot be sure to include a mug that supports his favorite sports team or a funny saying to show off.  “I just dropped a load” and “I don’t always fill out a log book, but when I do it’s made up” are funny examples that are also found on t-shirts.

Another good idea might be to get your dad a super cool wireless headset that he can use to answer phone calls head free. When you aren’t talking to him he will still need something to listen to though, so maybe you could introduce your old man to podcasts. There are shows about almost everything from sports to trucking and even murder mysteries.

Don’t forget about how your dad needs entertainment for when he’s parked overnight too. Consider getting him a wifi hotspot so he can play computer games or watch Netflix. There are some awesome manly shows he can stream like the Vikings, Ice Road Truckers, House of Cards, and more.

Men don’t like shopping for themselves, so if you pick up something your dad needs for him then it’s like two gifts in one. See if he needs a new electric shaver to keep his awesome trucking beard maintained, a new pair of polarized sunglasses, a more comfortable seat cushion, etc.

You know your pops likes to eat, he has his dad bod to maintain. Go ahead and get him a stash of his favorite chips, candy, and more to enjoy on the road. You could also plan a dinner or breakfast at his favorite restaurant to give him a good meal after all the skimping he’s had to do with fast food on the road.

Happy Father’s Day

No one knows your dad better than you do, we’re sure you’ll find the perfect gift to show him how much he means to you. We would like to take a moment to thank all dads out there, for teaching your kids everything you know and crafting perfect drivers! Also, remember that the sooner to pre-file your 2290 the better!

8 Mother’s Day Gifts For Your Trucking Mama

8 Mother's Day Gifts For Your Trucking Mama

Mother’s Day is on Sunday, have you gotten your Mom, wife, or girlfriend, or any of the Moms in your life a gift yet? Well, it’s close to the deadline but it’s not too late yet! Show the Mom in your life what she means to you. On this special day, we would like to give a shout out to the Moms in the trucking industry who do their part driving solo, in teams, dispatching, riding along with their husbands, handling the books at home, and more!

What To Give Your Trucking Mama

1. You know what women and Mom’s enjoy? A little attention to show them that they’re special to you. That’s why you could get your wife or Mom a pair of headphones so she can talk to you hands-free when she’s out on the road. They even have excellent wireless headphones these days so she won’t even have to deal with the hassle of tangled cords.

2. When you’re out on the road you have to eat and drink, that means your Mom does too. Maybe you can get her a crockpot so she can conveniently cook her own healthy and delicious meals when she’s out on the road. You could also get her a gift card to one of her favorite places to eat.

3. Is the Mom in your life a coffee fan? Then don’t make her walk across a truck stop parking lot in the morning for her first cup of the day! Get her a portable coffee maker to keep in her rig. She will love having the ability to brew a cup whenever she wants. Be sure to include a special mug too that has a loving message, photos of you or her favorite pet, or her favorite sports team on it.

4. Did you know most female truckers consider their rigs to be one of their babies? Maybe you could show you care by cleaning her truck for her. Go ahead and bust out the hose and suds to make that baby sparkle. Don’t stop with the outside, clean up the inside too. Wipe down the dash and the windows and clean out any trash or clutter.

5. Trucks are like a home away from home, so make sure the rig for the Mom in your life is cozy. Place some photos of yourself, the kids, or pets, around the truck for her to find. You could also write a series of special notes with reasons why you love her for her to find. Maybe weeks from now she will find another one of your notes and become overjoyed.

6. Is her sleeper cab comfortable enough for a good night’s rest? Sleep is important on the road and you don’t want your Mom or wife to drive tired. Does she need a better pillow? Space heater to stay warm? Softer blanket? Black out curtains to block the light? Ear plugs? The possibilities for making her rig more comfortable are endless.

7. Did you know that driving can boring? You probably did already, but that means the Mom in your life can get bored too. Get her an audio book or a subscription to an audio book streaming service to give her something fun to listen to for hours on the open road.

8. Let her relax. After getting home from a trip she will be tired, so cleaning the house or cooking dinner for the family might not be at the top of her list. Let her come home to a clean house and a home cooked meal so she can relax and catch up with everyone.

Don’t stop with a meal, have a movie picked out and ready to watch as a group, or you can get her a bubble bath kit with a bath bomb, lotion, and a candle, so she can take a load off for a while.

Appreciate Your Trucking Mama

No one makes you smile like the Mom in your life, so be sure to take the time to make her feel special this Mother’s Day. Moms all across the nation whether their drivers, work in the office, are involved in the trucking industry or not deserve to be celebrated for all that they do.
